Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A 30-year-old housewife, Abhishikta De Saha, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her residence in Rabindrapally, Kestopur, on Friday night. Her husband, Buddha Deb Saha, discovered her body after returning home from work. Upon finding the door locked from the outside, he unlocked it and entered the room to find his wife lying face down on the bed with a scarf tied around her neck and a pillow pressed against her face. The police were notified and arrived at the scene promptly.
Abhishikta, who worked at a local beauty parlor, had been married to Buddha Deb for eight years. The couple has a four-year-old son. Buddha Deb is employed at a private company, and the family lived in the Rabindrapally area for several years. Neighbors described the couple’s relationship as generally peaceful, with no reports of ongoing domestic issues. Authorities have not disclosed any prior history of conflict.
The Baguihati Police took immediate action, recovering the body and sending it for a postmortem examination at RG Kar Hospital. The initial investigation has focused on determining the exact cause of death, with a primary concern over whether it was a case of suicide, homicide, or an accidental death. Police are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to check for any clues. Buddha Deb has been questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains open as authorities await the postmortem report and further evidence.
